What would you do?

"I have just read a wonderful story on the UCB website and would love to share it.
'A father, his son, and his son's friend were sailing off the Pacific coast when a storm overturned their boat sweeping all of them into the ocean. Grabbing a rescue line, in a split second the father had to make the most excruciating decision of his life - which boy to throw the other end to and which one to sacrifice. He knew his son had accepted Christ and his friend hadn't. Anguished, the father yelled, 'I love you son,' and threw the rope to his son's friend. By the time he'd pulled the boy back to the capsized boat his son had disappeared beneath the waves. His body was never recovered. The father knew his son would step into eternity with Jesus and couldn't bear the thought of his friend facing eternity without Christ.' At the end of the service a teenage boy approached the old man and said, 'That's a nice story, but what father in his right mind would sacrifice his son's life in hopes that the other boy would become a Christian?' 'You've got the point,' the old preacher replied, 'It's not realistic. But I'm standing here today to tell you that story gives me a glimpse into what it must have been like for God to sacrifice His only Son for us. You see...I was that father, and your pastor was my son's friend.' The Pharisees who watched Christ die said, 'He saved others; himself he cannot save.' And they were right; He couldn't do both, so He chose to save you." http://www.ucb.co.uk/word_for_today

Can religion improve our physical and psychological wellbeing?

You maybe wondering is that a trick question well it is not.
According to William James one of Americans most famous Psychologist "religious experience could influence an individual over all health and well been". In support of William James other psychologist such Koenig (2002) have found a positive correlation between a persons psychological well being and religion. I find religion as a topic very fascinating, I am able to lean and engage in the topic with others that why I decided to write this blog. Also I think religion cans help us physically and psychologically. Religion is said to have increase mortality; it is also use as a coping mechanism for individual suffering for chronic illnesses.

Furthermore, lets examine teenagers who are religious; they are less like to engage in risky health behaviours such heavy drinking, drug and unprotected sex. Therefore, they are more likely to be healthier physiological and psychologically. In addition some individuals who attend religious services on a regular basic tend to be happier. It is essential for us to keep our bodies healthy as well as our mind, remember the mind and body are one. To keep our mind health we need to feed it with clean thoughts. Also religiousness has said to influence cortisol levels; Cortisol is a hormone in the brain it is usually referred to as the “stress hormone”. I can believe this because I use my religion as a mediator when I go through the stress of life.

Proverbs 12:18There is one who speaks like the piercings of a sword, But the tongue of the wise promotes health

Deuteronomy 7 : 8-9
But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;

My God is an awesome God

My God is an awesome God is the title of one of my favourite song. I love this song so much every time I listen to it, I am humbled by the fact that God as chosen to spare my life one more day. My God is an awesome God, it’s because of him we all are able to wake this morning, it is because of his grace we are given a second chance to live. My daughter asked me a few days ago why God make us. I was pleased that she too has questions about God and she is only 6 years old. My reply to her was simple I said, “God make us to worship him, he make us to praise him, he make us to love him and also for is share his love with others”. My words are not only for my daughter but and also to all those who may have question why God create us. I hope I have answered it clearly.

I just want you all to know that when you feel down and lost just remember God is an awesome God and he is just a pray away. Just ask of what ever you need him and it shall be given; sometimes I too feel that life is getting difficult with increase financial stress, work stress and family stress it so hard to cope. Well I must tell you only God is able to solve all the problems we are facing today he as solve mine. All you need to do is believe in him and fallow in word. Remember God is an awesome God and with him nothing is impossible.

Psalm 66:5Come and see the works of God;He is awesome in His doing toward the sons of men.

Make good use of your time.

My grandmother use to say time wait for no one, so do as much as you can today for only a few see tomorrow. Therefore, I must share a story with you all there was a very successful business man he was never at always away on business trips. On his way home for France he sat next to a well dress young man they begin to talk. The young man asked in a polite voice do you go to church. No! Reply the businessman I have no time for such nonsense, my wife and kids go sometime, I am out earning the cash he said playfully. The young man replied in a sad voice so do you believe in God? No! said the businessman I am too busy for God. I have too much work to do no time for this God stuff. Then young man then turn to him and said, I will pray for you that you might fine the time for God; because he is going to help you sooner than you think, the man laughed.

On his way home that night his car went off the road as he fell asleep.
His cars collide with truck, on his way to hospital he begins to pray. God please do not let me die, give me one more chance at life, his prayer was answered. However, he did not walk again.
He began to remember what the young man on the plane said “God is going to help you soon”. Anyway to shorten the story the businessman’s life was changed, he was now in a wheel chair and finding more time for God and his family. Do not wait until you are on your face before you fine time for God.

The businessman did believe in God but had no time for God; remember the first thing he did, was to call on God while he was danger and god answered his prayer. Most of us do believe in God but have no time for God until we are in need. Let’s try to remember God is our creator and we need to fine time for him every day.

DEUTERONOMY CAPTER 8: 17-19 will remind us that it is God who is in control it is he who make us who we are.
17. And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth. 18. But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day. 19. And it shall be, if thou do at all forget the LORD thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish.

Emotions and Health

“The more one can laugh when happy, cry when sad, use anger to set firm limits, make love passionately, and give and receive tenderness fully and openly, the further one is from suffering.” (McCullough-Valliant, l997)

When we think of emotions, strong feelings such as joy, anger and sadness comes to mind. These emotions can cause bodily responses such as facial expressions. Furthermore, our emotions can affect our health and well being; you might ask how? Well my friends there are a lot of evidence linking emotion to health.

A research conducted by Pennebaker et al. (1997) has suggested that those who repress their emotions simultaneously suppress their immune response; therefore, they become more vulnerable to illnesses such as colds and even cancer. Another study was carried out by Danner et al. (2002) their research was on longevity looking at 180 Catholic nuns’ autobiographies’ were examined. They found that nuns who writing and expressed positive emotions and positive experiences lived longer.

Well all experience good and bad emotions but to be able to express some emotions at time can be challenging especially when we are ill. However, being positive during sickness can help us to recover. As our mind and body are connected each one of us has the power through faith in God and positive thinking to heal our body. I know this may seem unreal but let me highlight some facts our immune system is influence by our mind. Also words we used can also help us, so as we talk to our friend and family let us use more positive words, let us look at our selves each morning say you well done, look great to day this positive start will help you through out your day and do it for one week and see how healthy you feel.

According to Proverbs 16:24 Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

Faith not Fair

Hi I how you are all feeling great I am I just want to share a few thoughts about faith.
To have faith is a wonderful feeling, each of us have the capacity to exercise faith. We all have Dreams and inspirations but may find if hard at times to reach those dreams. Why is this? I feel because we have no faith, the world has become too negative we are not only dwelling on negative thoughts, but using too many negative words. I strongly believe that the release of negative words we are acknowledging our failures and weakness to the point of not improving them. You maybe wondering how can I be positive in these times?. Well the answer is Faith,Having faith in God will help you. The most common form of releasing ones faith is through your mouth. The book of James clearly stated,
"If any of you lack wisdom let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in Faith nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways"(James 1 : 5-8).

Therefore, I encourage you all to be more positive and just have faith in God
