What would you do?

"I have just read a wonderful story on the UCB website and would love to share it.
'A father, his son, and his son's friend were sailing off the Pacific coast when a storm overturned their boat sweeping all of them into the ocean. Grabbing a rescue line, in a split second the father had to make the most excruciating decision of his life - which boy to throw the other end to and which one to sacrifice. He knew his son had accepted Christ and his friend hadn't. Anguished, the father yelled, 'I love you son,' and threw the rope to his son's friend. By the time he'd pulled the boy back to the capsized boat his son had disappeared beneath the waves. His body was never recovered. The father knew his son would step into eternity with Jesus and couldn't bear the thought of his friend facing eternity without Christ.' At the end of the service a teenage boy approached the old man and said, 'That's a nice story, but what father in his right mind would sacrifice his son's life in hopes that the other boy would become a Christian?' 'You've got the point,' the old preacher replied, 'It's not realistic. But I'm standing here today to tell you that story gives me a glimpse into what it must have been like for God to sacrifice His only Son for us. You see...I was that father, and your pastor was my son's friend.' The Pharisees who watched Christ die said, 'He saved others; himself he cannot save.' And they were right; He couldn't do both, so He chose to save you." http://www.ucb.co.uk/word_for_today

Can religion improve our physical and psychological wellbeing?

You maybe wondering is that a trick question well it is not.
According to William James one of Americans most famous Psychologist "religious experience could influence an individual over all health and well been". In support of William James other psychologist such Koenig (2002) have found a positive correlation between a persons psychological well being and religion. I find religion as a topic very fascinating, I am able to lean and engage in the topic with others that why I decided to write this blog. Also I think religion cans help us physically and psychologically. Religion is said to have increase mortality; it is also use as a coping mechanism for individual suffering for chronic illnesses.

Furthermore, lets examine teenagers who are religious; they are less like to engage in risky health behaviours such heavy drinking, drug and unprotected sex. Therefore, they are more likely to be healthier physiological and psychologically. In addition some individuals who attend religious services on a regular basic tend to be happier. It is essential for us to keep our bodies healthy as well as our mind, remember the mind and body are one. To keep our mind health we need to feed it with clean thoughts. Also religiousness has said to influence cortisol levels; Cortisol is a hormone in the brain it is usually referred to as the “stress hormone”. I can believe this because I use my religion as a mediator when I go through the stress of life.

Proverbs 12:18There is one who speaks like the piercings of a sword, But the tongue of the wise promotes health

Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;

My God is an awesome God

My God is an awesome God is the title of one of my favourite song. I love this song so much every time I listen to it, I am humbled by the fact that God as chosen to spare my life one more day. My God is an awesome God, it’s because of him we all are able to wake this morning, it is because of his grace we are given a second chance to live. My daughter asked me a few days ago why God make us. I was pleased that she too has questions about God and she is only 6 years old. My reply to her was simple I said, “God make us to worship him, he make us to praise him, he make us to love him and also for is share his love with others”. My words are not only for my daughter but and also to all those who may have question why God create us. I hope I have answered it clearly.
